Hire terms and conditions

These terms apply to every hire from WigFX. WigFX is the wig and hair department of BodyFX New Zealand Ltd (NZBN 9429036992102, GST 078-742-895), 10 Collins Street, Morningside, Auckland 1025. These terms form part of every hire agreement.

1. Quotes and bookings

Add the pieces you want to your quote, choose a hire length for each and send it. Myrthe replies within 48 hours with availability, the hire total and the refundable bond.
Once you accept your quote, we send you a hire agreement. Your booking is confirmed when you have signed the agreement and paid the hire total and the bond in full.
Production accounts: for established productions, we may agree account terms in writing. On an account, you pay the bond when you sign, and the hire total within 20 days of our invoice.
You can pay by bank transfer, by card in store, or by card using the payment link we send you.
All prices are in New Zealand dollars and include GST.
Pieces are held for you only once your booking is confirmed.

2. Hire periods

4-day weekend: pick up Friday, drop off Monday.
7 days, 1 month, 3 months and 6 months.
The hire period starts on the day the pieces leave us (collected or dispatched) and ends on the day they are back with us.
Need longer, or unusual dates? Ask in your quote and we will price your run.

3. Collection, delivery and return

Collection: from 10 Collins Street, Morningside, Auckland, between 10am and 5pm, Monday to Saturday. For after-hours collection, call 0800 263 939 and we will try to arrange it.
Courier: we send hires by tracked CourierPost within New Zealand, with a prepaid return label. Courier costs both ways are included in your quote.
Returns: return every piece by the agreed date, in the packaging it came in. For couriered hires, use the prepaid return label we include. Pieces remain your responsibility until they reach us.

4. Refundable bond

Every hire carries a refundable bond, set out in your quote. Bonds run in five tiers: $50, $100, $200, $500 and $1,000, depending on your hire total.
John Blake wigs carry a bond of $2,000 each, their replacement value.
The bond is paid with the hire total, or when you sign if you hire on a production account.
We check every piece when it comes back and refund the bond within 5 working days, less any charges under sections 6, 7 and 8.

5. Looking after the hair

Our wigs are dressed for stage and screen and need care to stay that way. During your hire, please:

Don't cut, colour, bleach, perm or heat-style any piece without our written approval. If your design needs a change, ask us first. We may be able to do it, or find a piece you can alter.
Apply and remove lace fronts with suitable adhesive and remover, and have someone experienced do it. Lace tears easily.
Wear a wig cap under every wig, and store pieces on a block or in their packaging when not in use.
Keep pieces away from open flame, food and drink, stage blood, paint and glitter unless agreed with us.
Don't wash pieces. We clean and re-dress every piece after each hire, and this is included in the hire price.

6. Damage and loss

Normal wear from careful use is expected and not charged.
If a piece comes back needing repair, re-dressing or extra cleaning beyond normal wear, we charge the cost of the work.
If a piece is lost, or damaged beyond repair (for example cut, dyed or burnt without approval), we charge its replacement value, as listed in your quote.
If a John Blake wig is lost, or comes back damaged so it can't be repaired and hired out again (for example cut, coloured, burnt or with the lace torn beyond repair), we charge $2,000, its replacement value. Damage we can repair is charged at the cost of the repair.
Charges come out of your bond first. If they are more than the bond, we invoice the balance, payable within 7 days.

7. Late returns

If pieces come back after the agreed date without an extension, we charge the 7-day hire rate for each week, or part week, they are late.
Need more time? Contact us before your hire ends and we will extend it where the pieces are not booked by someone else, at the rate for the extra time.

8. Cancellations

More than 7 days before collection: full refund of the hire total and bond.
7 days or less before collection: we keep 50% of the hire total and refund the rest, including the bond.
Production orders of 20 pieces or more, once we have started preparing them: we keep 50% of the hire total and refund the rest, including the bond.

9. Fittings on approval

You can take a selection of pieces for fittings for up to 7 days.
Pieces you return within the approval period are not charged. Pieces you keep become part of your hire, at the hire length you choose. Their hire length starts after the 7-day approval period.
Fitting pieces returned after the approval period are charged at the 7-day rate.
The refundable bond covers every piece that leaves us, including fitting pieces.

10. Production and large orders

Orders of 20 pieces or more are priced as a production hire. Ask for a production rate in your quote.
For orders of 50 pieces or more, give us 3 weeks' notice so we can prepare and pack your order.

11. Skin and adhesives

Wig adhesives, removers and makeup used with our pieces are your choice and your responsibility. Patch-test any product on the performer's skin before use.

12. Liability and your rights

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 where they apply.
Where you hire for business purposes (for example as a production company), you agree that the Consumer Guarantees Act does not apply, as allowed by section 43 of that Act.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect loss, such as lost filming time, if a piece is unavailable or unsuitable. Our liability is limited to the hire price of the affected pieces.
